HVAC duct tape is an aluminum tape used for sealing and wrapping HVAC ducts, which is specifically designed for insulating HVAC pipes.
HVAC tape is made from aluminum films, but it's not just pure films. HVAC duct tapes use aluminum film with varying thickness as the base material, coated with different pressure-sensitive adhesives. The aluminum backing can range from 18um to 150um, with a common thickness of around 50um. Thicker foil provides higher tensile strength for the tape.
Specific applications include
- In hot water circulation heating systems and geothermal system pipes, HVAC tape is commonly used to wrap insulating materials around heating pipes due to the excellent heat and light reflectivity of the aluminum backing.
- In ventilation ducts, dryer vents, kitchen exhaust ducts, and air ducts, it can seal together air handlers, connecting fittings, rigid and flexible ducts, metal sheets, and other components to prevent leaks.
- HVAC tape seals any leaks, ensuring a tight seal for air conditioning duct joints and connections, as well as insulating the HVAC ductwork.
